Vibrant Wedding at Cattail Crossing

Oh my! This African wedding was just incredible! There was so much colour, spirit, love and energy for this beautifully vibrant wedding at Cattail Crossing in Edmonton.

Cattail Crossing – what a view for a wedding!

This is such a hidden gem of a place to get hitched at. Heading there I didn’t dream that such a beautiful golf club would be nestled among the mundane roads that surround it.

As I arrived, I could see the high-rises of Downtown Edmonton in the distance as the sun shone over the beautiful greens of the golf course.

I saw the wedding event team arranging the chairs for the ceremony out on the green closest to the water and instantly knew it was going to be something special.

All about Family

Abby was surrounded by all of her family during the morning. She had her bridesmaids (who were also her sisters and very soon to be sister in law) and mom making sure the smaller bridesmaids (aka the children) were looking their best- and wow did they!

The bridesmaids were wearing matching sage green floor length dresses while Abby’s dress was full of detailed lace. She opted to have her hair down with volume which complemented her veil perfectly.

Surprise Ride

Once Abby was ready to leave, her family and church friends that were downstairs came together in worship as they saw Abby in her dress for the first time. This was the start of me needing a tissue for my happy tears!

Outside there was a white limo waiting for the wedding party to travel in- a surprise gift from Abby’s brother.

Colourful Ceremony

The ceremony itself was officiated by a family member, which in itself showed the bond of their family as well as them with God.

Several of the family members were wearing matching dress which gave the ceremony a colourful and meaningful lift. Along with that, the energy from their worship was outstanding during the ceremony!

Vibrancy into the night

From the start of the reception, until the couple drove off into the dusky sky, there was an immeasurable amount of praise and worship. I have never seen so much energy at a reception between family!

We managed to sneak out at golden hour to get some beautiful sunset images of Aman and Abby. If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know how much I love Golden Hour and why everyone should try to get out there at that time!

It was a spectacular occasion and I wish them both an amazing wedded adventure!

Their vows

The vows they had written to each other were so precious and true:

Today I get the marry my best friend, and my soulmate.

You are the answer to my prayer, and God’s best gift to me.

Sweetheart, our love story is like no other.

We weren’t introduced by friends or planned to get so close so quickly and become best friends.

Our love story is unique, because it was and will continue to be written by the greatest and most talented writer we know- God.

The moment God blessed me with you my world changed.

I didn’t realize that a man had so much power to change my perception of love and relationships that you did.

You have shown me the true meaning of love.

You have become a true example of the bible passage I have heard numerous times and I’ve grown to love.

You are the definition of what true love is.

You are patient and kind.

You do not envy or boast.

You are not arrogant or rude.

You do not insist on your own way.

And you are not irritable or resentful.

You do not rejoice at wrongdoings or rejoice with the truth.

Your love bears all things, believes alll things, hopes all things and endures all things.

Your love will never fail.

So hunny,

I vow to love you just as purely and intently,

To laugh at all your dad jokes.

I promise to be kind to you, always protect your heart.

I vow to uplift you and to never dishonour you.

I vow to devote myself to you and help you chase your dreams.

I vow to be strong for you and to be the shoulder you can lean on when times get hard.

Baby, you are my forever and always.

I’m so excited to embark on this new journey together and let God continue to write our love story.

I’m so excited to pray with you, to seek the Lord with you,

To grow with you, to laugh with you, to explore with you and to discover with you.

Long ago we were just a dream and a prayer.

Today, the Lord has answered our prayer.

You have been my best friend, confidant, sidekick and greater advocator.

But most importantly, you are the love of my life and you make me happier than I could ever imagine and more loved than I ever thought possible.

You have made me a better person, as our love for one another is reflected in the way I live my life.

Today I join my life to yours as your best friend, companion, lover.

Let me be the shoulder you lean on, the rock on which you rest.

I promise to be your ally in conflict, your partner in parenthood, your greatest fan and your toughest adversary.

I will love you, hold you and honour you.

I’ll respect you, encourage you and cherish you.

In health and sickness, through joy and sorrow, for the days of my life.

With guidance of our Lord, I’ll walk with you hand in hand wherever our journey leads us.

Thank you for being what you are to me.
